TOKYO, May 17, 2013 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Takeshi Kunibe) announced today that it will establish a representative office in the Republic of Chile as of May 17, 2013 to expand its network in Latin America.

Chile is blessed with abundant mineral resources – particularly copper – produces many types of commodities and is experiencing robust domestic growth while pursuing liberalized trade policies.
