Cooperation Agreement on Investment Promotion

with Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency

 

TOKYO , November 5, 2009 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Masayuki Oku) announced today signing of a Cooperation Agreement on Investment Promotion with Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (gKOTRAh).

 

KOTRA is a Korean government agency that oversees cross-border investment and national trade promotion to enhance Korea fs prosperity and competitiveness.

 

This Agreement will enable SMBC to strengthen the technical support it provides to clients, including Korean investment information and holding seminars with KOTRA. Further, with KOTRAfs vast business network, SMBC will be able to enhance its support to clients for their business collaborations and alliances.

 

SMBC opened its Seoul Branch in 1982, and has been actively supporting Korean companies with their global activities and Japanese companies entering the Korean market. This Agreement will enable SMBC to provide its client with even more value added information and services.

 

In recognition of these efforts in Korea , President Masayuki Oku received the Order of Industrial Service Merit - Silver Tower from the Korean government today. The Order of Industrial Service Merit is bestowed to those who have made an outstanding contribution to Korea fs industrial development, and President Oku is the first person to be awarded from the financial industry.
