Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro S.A. Sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Agência Paraná de Desenvolvimento (Brazil)

TOKYO, July 23, 2015--- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC”, President & CEO: Takeshi Kunibe) announced today that SMBC and its Brazilian subsidiary, Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro S.A. (“SMBCB”, President: Takaaki Otani), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Agência Paraná de Desenvolvimento (“APD”, Location: the State of Paraná, Brazil) to enhance mutual cooperation in support of Asian and Japanese companies expanding their business in the State of Paraná, Brazil.

The State of Paraná is located in the southern part of Brazil, to the south of the State of São Paulo, and has the largest production bases of automotive and medical industries in Brazil. Recently, the State of Paraná has been focusing on efforts to attract Asian companies. In 2011, the state government established APD, a non-profit investment promotion agency, which provides a wide range of services and information to facilitate investments into the state.

Under this MOU, SMBC and SMBCB hope to contribute to the development of the State of Paraná and provide further enhanced services to Asian and Japanese customers interested in business operations in the State of Paraná.
