Opening of Phnom Penh Representative Office

TOKYO, February 8, 2012 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Takeshi Kunibe) hereby announces the commencement of operation of its Phnom Penh Representative Office on February 8, 2012, as part of its network expansion strategy in Asia.

Cambodia, located between Thailand and Vietnam where many Japanese companies have been setting up operations, has been intensifying its economic partnership with both countries. It has been attracting leading Japanese manufacturers in recent years and coming increasingly under the spotlight as a new production base.

The establishment of the representative office will enhance our ability to provide local information and support Japanese companies entering into Cambodia; SMBC will continue to strive to offer more comprehensive services to our clients.
