Opening of Ho Chi Minh City Branch

 

 

TOKYO , May 2, 2006 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President Masayuki Oku) announces that, subject to regulatory approval in Japan , it will open a branch in Ho Chi Minh City and start operations on June 5, 2006 , aiming at expanding business in Vietnam .

 

Vietnam has been showing remarkable economic growth in recent years.  In addition to the existing representative office in Hanoi (the capital) located in northern Vietnam, the opening of Ho Chi Minh City Branch in the heart of southern Vietnam will enable SMBC to meet wider needs of its customers.
