Opening of Prague Representative Office

 

TOKYO , April 14, 2008 --- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, President: Masayuki Oku) announced that its Prague Representative Office commenced operation today, as a part of its network expansion in Europe .

 

Together with cooperation agreements signed between SMBC and investment agencies in Central and Eastern Europe (Investment and Business Development Agency, CzechInvest, in October 2007, and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency in November 2007), the opening of this office will enable SMBC to further increase the opportunities to provide information on the region to its customers.

 

SMBC group has enhanced its office network in Europe, Middle East , and Africa (EMEA) over the last two years.  This has included the opening of Milan Branch of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited in October 2006 and SMBC’s Dubai Branch in March 2007.  SMBC will continue to strengthen its services to EMEA based customers.
