SMBC Vietnam provides a wide range of wholesale banking services to top tier corporates through our branches in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, established in 2006 and 2008, respectively.

In May 2022, SMBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on business cooperation with Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) and in March 2023, an agreement to acquire a 15% equity stake in VPBank was reached. Through the business partnership with VPBank, SMBC Group will further strengthen our growth strategy and contribute to the further development of the financial industry in Vietnam.
